Fundraiser for KNSJ
Invitation to LJDC members for KNSJ Fundraiser
Everyone is invited to a fundraiser benefitting KNSJ FM radio station this Sunday, January 10th at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the home of Derek & Nancy Casady, 8412 Sugarman Drive, La Jolla, 92037.
The honored guest will be Greg Palast, of Los Angeles. Gregory Palast (born June 26, 1952)[1] is a New York Times-bestselling author[2] and a freelance journalist for the BBC[3] as well as the British newspaper The Guardian.[4] His work frequently focuses on corporate malfeasance but has also been known to work with labor unions and consumer advocacy groups. Notably, he has claimed to have uncovered evidence that Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, and Florida Elections Unit Chief Clay Roberts, along with the ChoicePoint corporation, rigged the ballots during the US Presidential Election of 2000 and again in 2004 when, he argued, the problems and machinations from 2000 continued, and that challenger John Kerry actually would have won if not for disproportional “spoilage” of Democratic votes.
KNSJ, broadcasting out of Descanso at 89.1 on the FM Dial has been on the air since July 4th, 2013 and is owned by Activist San Diego, a volunteer group headed by Martin Eder, longtime progressive San Diego activist. Really the station is community owned because it is volunteer run and supported financially by many individual donors.
Greg Palast’s mother lives in La Mesa, so he is no stranger to San Diego.
There is no set price for admission to the fundraiser but attendees will have an opportunity to contribute to help KNSJ if they like what they hear at the event.
People may ask questions and RSVP at Derek & Nancy’s, 858-457-0246.
Thanks,
Derek
