Resolution for Health Care Reform

Resolution for Health Care Reform

WHEREAS access to quality health care is essential for the good health and productivity of every American citizen and qualifies as a human right, not a privilege; and

WHEREAS the passage of the Affordable Care Act has demonstrated the government’s ability and responsibility to provide affordable health care for those with pre-existing conditions and other previously uninsurable circumstances; and

WHEREAS the United States continues to spend more than any other industrialized country for health care with demonstrably inferior outcomes due to the current inclusion of private health insurance corporations who function to provide profits for their companies, administrators and shareholders;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the California Democratic Party support the establishment of a universal, single-payer state health care system in California including all appropriate medical services including long term, in-home care.
